Department of Accounting

 

Objective

The program is devoted to cultivating in students both a specialized knowledge about accounting, auditing, taxation, information and professional competencies required of mid-to-high ranking accounting professionals who serve either in the business-industry sector or government agencies with responsibility mainly in analyzing and solving accounting-related problems.

 

Program features

Designed based on a balanced match of theory and practice, the program emphasizes students’ acquisition of proficiency mainly in accounting practices, taxation laws, and applying computerized information. Speeches, practical training, and site visits are carefully scheduled and executed as an integral part of the balanced curriculum. Labs, classrooms and conference rooms for instruction or specialized training purposes are properly furnished and equipped with advanced hardware and software to facilitate the teaching and learning process.

 

Faculty

All fulltime faculty members have an advanced degree at the master or Ph.D. level in addition to years of practical, professional experience. For those assigned to teach accounting courses, an extra qualification is a minimum of two years of professional service prior to recruitment. A majority of the staff are CPAs and/or certified stock analysts.

 

Career prospect

Graduates may seek employment in an accounting office or engage in accounting or other financial work in the private sector. The civil service system offers good employment opportunities too. For those interested in pursuing graduate study in Taiwan or a foreign country, a variety of fields can meet their needs, such as accounting, finance & banking, and business administration.
